Baptism
If you have recently been blessed with the birth of a new baby, heartfelt congratulations! Following the birth of a child many parents start to think about the possibility of baptism.
If you are thinking about baptism, either for yourself or your child, the minister would be glad to discuss this with you.

Weddings
At Christ’s Kirk we want your wedding to be a happy and meaningful occasion and hope this simple guide will help.
The Minister and Kirk Session are pleased to make the church available to any couple who wish a Christian service.
- Do we need to be church members to be married in church?
No. Membership is not a condition of marriage.
2. Is it possible for divorcees to be married in church?
Yes. In the Church of Scotland those who have been married and divorced can be remarried. You will find that the Minister will not make your situation a problem.
- What about couples living together?
The Church has always been in favour of lifelong commitment with marriage. If you have been living together you will find that this is the point from which the Minister starts.
- How do we arrange a wedding?
Contact the church by email: christskirkglenrothes@yahoo.com
- What does it cost to be married in Christ’s Kirk ?
Please consult the Minister regarding costs relevant to your Service. (Inclusive of fee for organist, church officer/cleaner and donation towards heating/lighting).
- The Marriage Schedule
It is the responsibility of the bride and groom to obtain a marriage schedule from the Registrar and present it to the Minister at the rehearsal.
7. Rehearsal
A rehearsal for all members of the Wedding Party is normally held on the evening immediately prior to the wedding.
Please contact the Minister conducting your service to make arrangements. Along with the marriage schedule, the balance of the wedding fees and hymn sheets should be brought to the rehearsal.
Funerals
The loss of a loved one can be a devastating event, even for people of faith.
God draws near to us when we face bereavement but there is no short-cut through the process of grieving and the minister is available to help.
Often an undertaker will contact the minister on behalf of a family but the family can contact the minister directly. The minister will then arrange a visit to discuss the funeral arrangements.
If the funeral service takes place in the Church there are fees for the organist, the church officer and the heating and lighting of the building. However, there is no charge for a minister and any donation to the church is discretionary.
When the minister calls, he will discuss the choice of hymns and readings, the content of any tribute and the order of service. He may ask whether a family member or friend wishes to say a few words and whether there are any poems or readings planned for the service.
The minister is available for pastoral support after the funeral. However, there are organisations such as Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland, which offer ongoing support to those who are working through issues related to bereavement. The national phone number is 0845 600 2227.
